Divine Strake in Nevada: Prevailing winds: 

The Divine Strake test will be coordinated so that prevailing winds will blow in a northerly direction, away from Las Vegas and towards northern Nevada, Utah and Idaho and other states.  (Las Vegas and L.A. were considered safe from NTS tests until shifting winds after nuclear blasts scattered radioactive dust across those cities in 1955 and 1958, respectively.)
